The Villain

Knight × Enemy Tactician, except the knight always sends him care packages despite the fact that he nearly killed him a week ago

• Knight has the ability ti see strings of fate so he can recognize tactician years later
• They lived in the same small town as children but when the town was attacked by bandits their family went different ways. Knight has very distinct memories of that time (slightly older) while tactician does not
• For knight's birthday, he stages an attack on tactician camp to kidnap him and then reveals he and his team plan to leave their nation and need tacticians help.
• well, more like if tactician is fighting so ardently for them, he'll side with tactician and his team is in it for the knight and not their country

Pantheon

One main god – named Stolz – who's actually the overseer of the planet, able to change it down to its foundations. Their main job is to make sure the planet doesn't suffer from distortions in the space time continuum, which could leave to universal collapses. They're lauded as the creator god(dess) and the patron of monochromatic magics, but honestly they keep rather hands off towards civilization. Their 6 subordinate gods are truly constructs, although given their own quirks and personalities (because they thought it would be more amusing like that)

• Stolz (Spirit) Non-binary (adheres to no gender construct, doesn't care which way or the other how people gender them). Keeps a very hands off approach to the planet, only coming in when there's a distortion occurring. Name comes from german for “pride”
• Teava (Fire) Genderfluid (able to change their gender and body as it pleases). Probably the godling who has the most interactions with humanity, taking whatever form seems the most fun. People with exotic or overpowered Special Abilities are often told they have Teava's blood in their veins. Name comes from a transliteration of the hebrew word for “lust”.
• Ira (Water) Female. Is known to cause disasters for people who pray to her for petty bs, but seems p calm most of the time. Name ultimately comes from latin word for “wrath”.
• Voleri (Earth) Male. Quiet, unassuming, prefers to nap. Occasionally goes down to the planets to explore. Patron deity of explorers and intellectuals. Name inspired by the german word for “gluttony”.
• Paresa (Wind) Female. Calm and gentle normally, but can be vicious just like the winds she embodies. Name comes from mispelling the catalan word for “sloth”.
• Jiez (Metal) Male. Patron deity of craftspeoples, regardless of what they make but especially weaponsmiths. Name comes from plautdietsch word for “greed”.
• Kina (Wood) Female. Nurturing, bright and sunny. Oftentimes works as mediator between the gods when one invariably pisses off someone else. Patron deity of mediators, judges, and the like. Name comes from a transliteration of the hebrew word for “envy”.

Magic

Can be vaguely broken down into 7 elements or types. Most people can find themselves proficient in one or two, while prodigies may wield 3 or 4. Proficiency in 6 or 7 elements is considered legendary in this world. While healing is possible to some degrees in every element, what is considered “White” or “Light” magic is under the purview of Spirit, along with things like necromancy and subjugation spells. Magic is based on 2 things: intent ad incantation. While possible, magic is rarely as effective without the verbal or physical component (so spoken spells but also written or hand gestures). SO yes you can cast silently and without moving but magic has the tendency to blow up. Most proficient casters learn a variety of ways to cast the same spell.

Special Ability

All beings in this world is born with one or more special abilities. Most are very basic, such as enhanced hearing or night vision, but you also have ridiculously over powered things like “sneezes fire” or “can create any potion in any container that they can think of”. Some abilities are common in a species or region (such as elves who live in forests might have enhanced hearing while certain groups of elves might have gloomvision)

Item Boxes

An uncommon special ability that allows someone to stash items in a negative space. For most people, the amount of items that can be held is minimal, often comparable to a small rucksack, although some people can have larger ones. Items in an “Item Box cannot be removed by anyone but the user themselves.

Scan

A rare special ability. More information can be found the higher level the user is. Scan can be obfuscated, as there are ways to hide information that can show when scanned by those who are of a lower level. Scan also becomes unique to the user so no two people will see the exact same information (i.e. someone with the Occupation Chef who uses Scan might see certain monsters labeled as edible, unedible, tasty, not tasty without X, poisonous but edible if prepared correctly, while someone who is a merchant adventurer might Scan the same monsters and things would be listed with average sell price for various parts).

Soul Bound Communicators

A special magical item that is considered a must have for all adventurers who want to make it big. Allows for near instant communication with other communicators via ambient magic waves (although some areas are dead zones where magic waves cannot penetrate and other areas have too high a concentration of ambient magic that they'll interfere with the connection). You can link communicators by either placing one on top of another or with the creation of a com address (a piece of spell code that works like a QR, so say, if someone has a quest offer, they can leave their QR code at the guild and prospective adventurers can message them for more details. these com addresses can be fixed or temporary). Because they're soul bounded, they cannot be easily stolen (the communicator will return to it's owner once outside a meter radius of their body), traded or destroyed unless the person who owns it stays dead for longer than 6 hours. They come in a variety of styles, shapes, and designs. You can own multiple communicators. There are very costly rituals to de-link a communicator, but it uses a lot of resources, MP, and time so it's not really wroth it for the average thief. A de-linked communicator becomes inert and wipes any information on it. Can be hooked up to the user's item box for easy viewing of the items inside.

Beings

A catch all term for any intelligent species on the planet. Humans are one type of common being, along with elves and beastmen. There are many other types of beings too.

Planets

The universe is made up of 9 planets that orbits around a star known as Lobo. The planets are interconnected through special teleportation portals located within the capitals of each planet, as well as some other major cities. Some planets' orbits intersect which allows for another way for beings to move from one planet to another. Each planet is unique, with their own governance, values, and perils. The only thing they share is a pantheon and language, although there are variations of that as well.

• Radost. _ Capital is Tenaron. Name comes from the transliteration of the macedonian word for “joy”.
• Taika. _ Capital is Masaya. Name comes from the lithuanian word for “peace”.
• Gidult. _ Capital is Olkaria. Name comes from the old high german word for “patience”.
• Daya. _ Capital is Osore. Name comes from the transliteration of the telugu word for “kindness”.
• Hyvyys. _ Capital is Etna. Name comes from the finnish word for “goodness”.
• Vernost. A planet that is made up of mostly water, with islands dotting its Lobo side. It's strange orbit causes one half of the planet to be plunged in eternal night and winter. Capital is Murgo. Name comes from the czech word for “faithfulness”.
• Stedrota. _ Capital is Batagaika. Name comes from the transliteration of the old church slavonic word for “gentleness”.
• Enkrateia. _ Capital is Stull. Name comes from the transliteration of the ancient greek word for “self-control”.

The Team

Small start up company that makes apps and games. They've been in business for just under 3 years but the whole team has never been in the same place at the same time prior to this trip (almost everything is done remotely and this is considered a side gig for everyone but the CEO and the PM). The trip was suggested as a way to socialize and get to know everyone but it ended up with them finding themselves in another world instead.

Analyn “Lyn” Volkel -

Female, 28. Founder / CEO (+ PR) Stupid freaking wealthy because of her family, but also very competent and good with money anyways. Has played the stock market for years and made quite a tidy sum. Lesbian. Was very drunk when suggesting the company because her girlfriend of 6 years up and left her for some startup douchecanoe. Vaguely gets this nerd stuff everyone else is into. But only vaguely Gamer, normally into MMOs and FPS. RvB fan. (They broke up because of irreconcilable differences on whether a certain character is fuckable which somehow led to a ridiculous fight)

I'm thinking thr journalist (a regular at the convenience store) was the actual target which is why they had the makeshift bomb but the stores owned by immigrant family so they were hoping to mask the real target

Epic fight scene where retired magigirl fights first one thug then the other guy who doesn't seem like much and then finslly the actual assassin. She tells the mother, kid and young woman to run out while barring thr door so the assassin has no choice but be inside when the bomb detonated. I would definitely say that a lot of fire types went extinct or endangered unless they were Dual types or could adapts (I don't think two generations is long enough for there to be new world variants though) I was thinking more ecopunk where people find old tech (which is advanced compared to modern day) and repurpose and change to work on solar/electric pokemon or water

Too short of a time for Pokémon to evolve for the current climate and environment

A lot of info was destroyed or damaged by the great flooding so they're left with tech that people had to reverse engineer. All the Great cities fell and were swallowed by it so they're back to making pokeballs like Kurt except apricorns are hella rare

No corporations but that means access to ready made medicines and food is scarce and whatever is left is highly valued like potions and etc

If we go with the professor route maybe they finally figured out how to access other people's PC boxes to get the pokemon out and they're trying to transfer them from the failing PCs and that's what the PC is aiming for

Okay back to pokemon but I think when Aqua won we saw a MASS (near-)extinction event or near to of a lot of species. P much any plains living pokemon would have been unable to get to higher ground fast enough so for a bunch of species that survived it's only because they were trained pokemon with their trainers who happened to have been in a place where they weren't immediately killed (i.e. hiking in the mountains, on a boat)

I won't be mean and make the HM moves be required to stay in their move set though. You don't have boxes, you can't catch pokemon (but you can be attacked by them) and once you get four more generated pokemon any more you find gets sent to Oak. You have to visit him to change out your team and he won't let you leave your slowpoke at home

Changes to overworld where a helicopter is landing on what looks like a deserted island. It's between a tall building that's cut off and a more squat building. There's one NPC in front of the squat building (NPC is determined by nationality). A bunch of NPCs, including PROF exit the vehicle, and then finally PC.

PROF and the other NPCs from the helicopter leave into the tall building. You now have control of the PC. You can explore the small island but attempts to enter tall building is rebuffed. You can interact with things but nothing happens until you talk to the NPC.
