npcs

  • Blue Oak; pokemon professor / tinkerer. Created an experimental device that allows you to take pokeballs from PCs. it captures multiple pokemon at a time, one stays with you and the rest are sent to Blue (who uses Bill's stuff who recently passed away???) He was visiting Red on Mt Silver when Team Aqua drowned the world which is why he survived

  • Misty

  • Steven Stone

  • Red (Oak); teacher on Mt Silver

questions

orig With Kav. Because of course I'm literally juggling two ideas at once LMAO post bad end Sapphire where most of civ is underground and you don't catch pokemon but get random ones from time capsules (failing PCs in sunken pokecenters)

my problem is i have premise but zero plot for that one 🥲

I forget about Sapphire and what happen – is it the one with weak kid who gets strong?

although i was more going with “team aqua wins and drowns the world”

Question, is the world overrun by water and like – people went into caves underground while under water? Or we like thinking the last city type of deal?

my thought was there were small pockets of humanity that remained but it's p much just areas close to / on mountains, some new islands later near volcanoes because that's what they do, etc

Ooh okay so I have a better idea of the scenario I think the story should start off as any version of Pokémon – their Pokémon is gifted by a professor, or the closest thing to a professor.

I imagine it would be the most qualified person

and hmm, i'm thinking maybe 2 or 3 generations (thinking like blue oak's grandson is the professor) that was my timing at least for the escape tower one

But like that would be neat – it wouldn’t be enough time for civilization to go back what it used to be So everything would be still new and a lot of testing and trials to see what they can do Probably a lot of cautiousness But imminent death due to cave ins Think Gurren Lagann at the first part lol

Ooh I didn't think about it. Yeah there are probably towns in little underwater caves that had air pockets

Think of it like,

Is it like where everything is made from dirt and clay? How much of the Pokémon population survived exactly?

What percentage of Pokémon species and type survived Let’s say that majority of fire types died it would be mean that there’d be a need for them Ground and Rock types are heavily used and needed to underground structures

I would definitely say that a lot of fire types went extinct or endangered unless they were Dual types or could adapts (I don't think two generations is long enough for there to be new world variants though) I was thinking more ecopunk where people find old tech (which is advanced compared to modern day) and repurpose and change to work on solar/electric pokemon or water

Too short of a time for Pokémon to evolve for the current climate and environment

A lot of info was destroyed or damaged by the great flooding so they're left with tech that people had to reverse engineer. All the Great cities fell and were swallowed by it so they're back to making pokeballs like Kurt except apricorns are hella rare

No corporations but that means access to ready made medicines and food is scarce and whatever is left is highly valued like potions and etc

If we go with the professor route maybe they finally figured out how to access other people's PC boxes to get the pokemon out and they're trying to transfer them from the failing PCs and that's what the PC is aiming for

Okay back to pokemon but I think when Aqua won we saw a MASS (near-)extinction event or near to of a lot of species. P much any plains living pokemon would have been unable to get to higher ground fast enough so for a bunch of species that survived it's only because they were trained pokemon with their trainers who happened to have been in a place where they weren't immediately killed (i.e. hiking in the mountains, on a boat)

Let’s say roughly 70 percent of human population died bc like not everyone is near a mountain rage And say at least 30-45 percent of Pokémon died Pokémon are like animals, they’d have a sense of danger The issue is like, all water is now more salt water based

Oooh. Team Aqua obviously had like... a whole ass underwater base that they retreated to. The only remnant of old society

Mountains that have spring water are preserved and barred off Wells are made too It’s gonna look primitive at first

Mechanics wise, the PC would have to try and convince new pokemon they rescue from the PCs but I'm unsure what that would look like (because we don't have badges to make pokemom up to a certain level listen to you)

I wonder if they had to go max on the slowpoke breeding

Possibly although if you only need to go from point a to point b and not dive then p much any other water pokemon would work for ferrying ...shit wait the site I was checking was old lemme see if slowpoke can learn dive Okay yes slowpoke can learn dive. ...but can't learn cut. But considering it might not need it esp since it gets surf, dive, waterfall, whirlpool, strength and rock smash

No rock climb either which kinda makes sense but also hmm

They have stubby arms I don’t imagine they can cut lol It’s v versatile tho Helpful

Bidoof/Bibarel can though (bidoof can't learn surf though)

Aaah if only bidoof got surf too.

I won't be mean and make the HM moves be required to stay in their move set though. You don't have boxes, you can't catch pokemon (but you can be attacked by them) and once you get four more generated pokemon any more you find gets sent to Oak. You have to visit him to change out your team and he won't let you leave your slowpoke at home

Pikachu learns moves outside of their moves set in anime

Lmao that's true. Who says they haven't been breeding these slowpoke for the last 40 years to be super slowpoke

Yeah exactly! I’m certain that you can breed other Pokémon with the same egg type, right? And they usually carry the same move set with other Pokémon Or even hidden abilities / etc

Definitely. Golduck gets all the HMs I expect players would need except cut OTL

It really does Lmao. Trying to find something that can dive, cut, and climb is hard Wow (Two images – first one lists arceus, bibarel, empoleon, feraligatr, mew. Second one says “Pokémon must have all of these moves: Dive Strength Cut Rock Climb”) Oooh sometimes you find TMs while exploring Or old potions and stuff Okay starter choices are: specially bred slowpoke, galatian slowpoke, psyduck or bidoof 😂

I kind wish I could use Absol as a starter but I can't even stretch the bred specifically for water unless we get a special adapted absol

Bibarel would be common I like those choices tho They seem reasonable and attainable for a world that’s gone to shit

True. I'm still astounded that slowpoke and galarian slowpoke has near exact same moveset except for one

Would the place the player be living in a makeshift settlement? Or like a town that was established as a safe place – aka no cave ins etc

If they know our young prof oak, I'd say the probably live with him in the small community he has on Mt silver

Oh wait What’s the year? Like time setting wise Like – use the games lol so I understand it more Is it before Pokémon yellow/red/blue?

Oh no after! Essentially the “prof oak” I'm talking about is the grandson of Blue Oak Who was visiting his friend Red on Mt Silver when everything went pear shaped

Okay – lol I was confused about professor oak Blue would probably say something like “nah professor oak was my grandfather, I’m *insert profession Oak

LMAO okay yeah I can see that totes

He’d ride on a skateboard if possible lol Kick flips

LMAO

So what big names are still alive? Besides red and blue

Hmm. I want to say Steven Stonr might be. And whoever is the gym leader of the last gym in Hoenn

So an idea is – let’s put Kav into this world, she’s gonna need a rival so we gotta put someone that is antagonistic

So perhaps uh Ryker I imagine it’s a time where having children is crucial but everyone is too stressed to have full term children – with cave ins and the world still being unstable with the amount of water.

There a combination of two types of people – mountain folk and underground folk.

The mountain folk live with possible rain almost every day Tho then again it’s probably a time where the rain clouds have become to disperse

yuu — Today at 10:51 PM Hmm. I feel like we'd have 3 kinds – people who moved to mountains, people who moved underground, and those who live on the water like... paciflog town? Pacifidlog Town And also Seafolk Village

⊹˚.⋆ℍ𝖊𝖆𝕧𝖊𝖓𝖑𝖞♡༉‧₊˚. — Today at 10:55 PM Ooh!!! That would be cool

yuu — Today at 10:58 PM i assume they each have their own quirks, which community would kav be from?

⊹˚.⋆ℍ𝖊𝖆𝕧𝖊𝖓𝖑𝖞♡༉‧₊˚. — Today at 10:59 PM The mountains – I feel that she would struggle with trying to overcome the idea of crossing the ocean I’m trying to picture something like wind waker, where there’s some islands Huh would there be a place where it’s snow? Like Mount Everest that is an area

yuu — Today at 11:00 PM essentially that's what all the big mountains have become + some new mountains due to volcanic activity (possibly pokemon intervention) ...huh i would assume on occasion i just realized if i actually wrote this game, i could probably grab ideas from the philippines like how tagatay and baguio is situated they probably build small towns in the caldera of volcanoes

⊹˚.⋆ℍ𝖊𝖆𝕧𝖊𝖓𝖑𝖞♡༉‧₊˚. — Today at 11:03 PM Ooh yes!
